Martin:

I tried the speaker with the wall-wart disconnected and on battery power, 
but no joy.

I also tried chokes on both the wallwart power cord, and the speaker wire, 
but again, no luck.

I don't have small-enough chokes to tri for both conductors in the speaker 
wire and the wallwart wire, but that is an interesting thought.

Keep those ideas coming!
