Hi all,
A fellow ham operator and his wife came over yesterday for a visit.
He and I worked on measurements of distance from my BTE (behind the ear)
processors to when the static or RFI stops.
We measured from the left side, front, back and right side.
At the most, there is 49 inches from my head and the interference stops.
I removed my BTES and removed the batteries. No interference.
Ok, I have backup processors which are bigger units-about the size of a
pager. These are called body-worn processors/which I can wear on my belt and
the wire is about 24 inches long on each unit and of course headpiece that
goes to my head.
I went and got them and put them on.
To my amazement, there is absolutely no radio interference. Wow!
So my buddy and I discovered that I can receive when I wear the BWP
(body-worn processors) but neither one of us can transmit on this 146.670
that I have been referring to. So apparently this repeater is not close
enough for this little 5-watt radio.
But at least now we know when I wear my bwp processors I won't be causing
RFI when I go to the meetings However, after my upcoming hip surgery, and
recovery, we will confirm this when we go to the meeting.
Hugs and 73
