Ed,
There is feed back, although not exactly the way the TS-440 and other
tranceivers did it. There are single beeps when doing things like switching
bands. When turning functions like the noise blanker on and off there is a
handy 2-beep system. When the function is turned on, you get a medium beep
followed by a higher beep. For off, it's medium followed by a lower beep.
also, the rig remembers its configuration acording to band. So, if I were
on 40 CW, and had the filters and DsP set up acordingly, and then I switch
to 60 meters which would obviously be set up for sideband, I could go back
to 40 and be in the proper configuration for CW since that's how I had last
used it on 40. Often, I use bands I don't operate, like 20 and 160 to show
me where I am. On 20, for example, I leave it set at 15 megs and the WWV
signal. On 160, since I don't have an antenna for that band, I leave it set
to the local AM station on 1400 so that if I end up there, I know one click
of the rocker switch to the right is 75/80 meters. It's an easy rig to get
used to but the speech output box Mike is trying will make it much better.
