Thank you to all who responded regarding our post! It was so helpful; all
the comments that were sent all said the same thing, no, because it was made
on the same line.

Jay's used to be an independent Chicago-based company, close enough to
Milwaukee to a regional brand as well, but is no part of Synder's of
Hanover...

A quick online search found

December, 2007, "Snyder's of Hanover, Hanover, Pennsylvania, officially
acquired Jays Foods, Chicago, on Tuesday, December 4 after a bankruptcy
auction was held in Chicago on November 30. Shortly after the Judge approved
the transaction, Jays Foods officially closed their doors. Through the
purchase of their assets, Snyder's of Hanover will continue to produce
Krunchers!T Kettle Chips, O-KE-DOKET Popcorn and JaysT Potato Chips.

"We are pleased to be able to keep the Jays' tradition alive in Chicago,"
said Carl E. Lee, President and CEO of Snyder's of Hanover. "Within a very
short time, our team was able to successfully formulate a plan to keep jobs
and a physical presence in Chicago and the Mid-West. With our acquisition
the beloved Jays products will continue to be available."

Since then '"Jay's pretzels" have been added to the product line. At first
I thought that production of non-fried items got moved to a pretzel
location. In checking ingredients in other products, however, wheat is
listed as an ingredients in both Jay's BBQ pork rinds AND Cheese Thins
(post-Snyder wheat wafer sandwhich thingy-s) and only the Cheese-flavored
Popcorn and the Chicago Mix (Cheesy & Caramel corn) are being run on those
llines as well. Other Okedoke popcorns are allergen-free. (Messy
colors/flavors are often run on the same production line, although the Jay's
has others just as messy aren't made on that line.)

Synder's business is pretzels and due diligence before deciding to add GF
pretzels to it's product line. The company knows what needs to be done with
the allergen labeling. I had written the company to express my concern when
they decided they wanted to get into the GF game and have become a fan of
their GF pretzels both for flavor & price.

Part of determng GF status is to investigate the companiy & its full product
line to fully assess GF status and the level of risk.

I hope this helps everyone else just like it helped us!

Susan
