This is known as Wolff's Law:

I too have always believed this and told people since I became palaeo that they should undertake weight lifting exercises that are heavy enough to flex the bones.

However, Wolff developed his law on the evidence before him over 120 years ago in Germany, still largely a farming nation. In the USA in the 21st century, with a high incidence of insulin and leptin resistance, we are learning now that this is not always the case. Jack Kruse, for example, advises his patients not to exercise at all until they have restored their leptin resistance. This may take 6 months or more.

Check, too, on the side effects of medications. ALL pharmaceuticals have side effects and these side effects will vary - often wildly - between those consuming them. Look for rare and unusual side effects.
