Thanks to the many many who replied - There seems to be a difference of opinion here.

Applebee's website now has an allergen list of items not containing gluten but they cannot guarantee no cross contamination for any allergen! Many have eaten just fine there and the list of items is long including steaks, shrimp, and lime chicken. However several said to stay away b/c of the possibility of cross-contamination. It also varies greatly by location and willingness of the server and mgr to work with you. It's obviously an individual decision. I still haven't decided what I will do and will post of my experience if I go.
  Thanks again for the replies.
