I sent the following instructions to Tom, WB8TYJ, and he suggested that they
might be helpful to others, so here they are.

Instructions For Upgrading TS590 Firmware

1. Download and unzip the 1.06 software.

2. Turn on the 590 and then start the software so that you can set the
right comm port.

3. Turn off the 590 and hold in the memory in key while pressing the power
button.

4. Hit the update button in the arcp software. At this point, you can use
your jaws or mouse cursor to check your old and new version numbers.
I think you have to say ok one more time on your pc and then the upgrade
begins. You can monitor the progress with your jaws cursur, but I wouldn't
do it too often as you don't want to do anything that might mess up timing.

5. When the upgrade is finished, turn off the rig and exit the software.
Unplug the usb cable from the rig temporairily and then turn on the power to
the 590 while holdig inthe a=b
key. Hit the a=b key one more time to do a full reset.

6. Once you do that, you should be running 1.06. Be sure to back up your
rig settings before doing the firmware upgrade using the ARCP590 software.
Write your saved data back into the radio, and you should be in business!

I forgot to mention that the arcp590 program doesn't seem to save all
settings. When you use the program to save or restore settings.
there are three check boxes that you must check or those parameters are not
saved or restored. One thing that I noticed was that items that were set
with front panel controls like vox delay and mic gain were not remembered by
the arcp software even though I had all check boxes checked.
Values in the menus and memory positions were restored faithfully!
