Long live CW!
In 26.5 hours of operating, I made 1,224 QSOs with at least 88 countries,
for a new personal record score of just over 1.5 million points. I finally
figured out how to make Window-Eyes 7.5.2 automatically speak text in the
color used by the Dupe! Warning in N1MM. So I could type a callsign in as I
was scanning the band, and get warned immediately if this would be a
duplicate QSO with that station on that band. Sometime I may try to get
N1MM working with spotting networks or the Reverse Beacon Network. Also,
I'm using an FH2 keypad and the FT950's internal memories for CW
transmissions, rather than having the computer do the sending. I'm tired,
but it was a blast, with 153 QSOs on 40, and more than 300 each on 20, 15
and 10.
My brother Paul, W6PR, doesn't copy CW all that well, so I advised him to
track my progress by looking for W3IUU on www.reversebeacon.net . This
system showed my frequency and how strong my signal was at various CW
skimmer locations whenever I stayed on a frequency and called CQ. So Paul
found me and worked me on 20 CW on Saturday. That also was fun.
I'm glad you had a good 20-meter net. I should be back in action for the
next twoSundays.
