You'd never see me sink that low, I've been with out antennas since the end
of August and lived with my "now in-laws" for a couple months a couple years
ago and while I was not happy with no radio, I'd never be happy on a
computer, claiming it was radio either. In fact, I'd be ashamed of myself as
I am for that short time I had a simplex link up a bunch of years ago. Once
I found out the mentality on there was that people are opting for that so
they don't have to upgrade, or don't have to deal with band conditions and
what not, I found out that's the mentality on there, made sure my callsign
was out of the system for good, uninstalled the program and vowed to never
go back. That's also when I let go of most of my 2 meter equipment too since
too many repeaters have it on them around here and it leads to nothing but
ignorance and problems. I also think those who try to demonstrate it to new
hams should lose their licenses permanently, bad enough they do it but to
try to get new people in to ham radio claiming that's the way, nothing like
showing up at a job fair with a table advertising going on wellfare.
Besides, there's always a way to manage with antennas, even if it's indoor,
mobile, remote controlled, temporary like a gokit setup, someway to get on
the air if you care that much about it. I'd go the indoor option here if I
had anything to put indoor and wasn't going to be moving anywhere from a
week to a month and that's been uncertain for the last month plus. Now that
we have the car back though, I'll be working soon on putting my gokit setup
in there, probably next week. Looks like I'm at my mother's Thursday for a
while so I'll probably do it then so I don't have to worry about getting hit
in my parking lot.
