I've seen some for many years that were fine but yeah, a good shot, I'd be 
concerned and no,m you don't want to replace that connector. I did it once 
with one of the 8 pins ones, I can do the PTT, ground and audio but all 8 
pins I hope to never do again, but 3 wires isn't a big deal,I trim all the 
contacts off the unused ones. All 8 I think I'll get help with in the future 
if I ever need to.
