Hi, all.

As you know, this week-end, I did the Pennsylvania QSO Party, and got the
chance to give the N3FJP logging software a real work-out on my new Windows
7 laptop.

Things worked pretty well, for the most part, except I discovered two
problems that I would like anyone's thoughts on:

1. Even with the Windows 7 machine and Jaws 12, I continue to have the
problem where I often have to type the first character in an entry field
twice before it stays. This happened in all fields, which in the case of
the P A Q P, were the call field, the serial number field, and the county
field. I know that David or someone on the list was working on this one, so
I am interested if any progress has been made. Apparently, it's a problem
with the software, and I wonder if it has something to do with a conflict
between it and Jaws.

2. At least for the P A Q P software, I could not get the duplicate wave
file to work correctly. What used to happen is that whenever I entered a
call that was a clear duplicate, the wave file would alert me to that fact
immediately before I proceeded. This did not work this time. The only way
I could be alerted to a duplicate is to completely enter all of the contact
info and then attempt to put the contact in the log. I know the wave file
is there, but it's just not being accessed as it should be.

Any thoughts on either of these issues would be appreciated, as I prepare
for my next contest adventure.

I will write to Scott Davis, N3FJP, on these issues if needed, although he
openly admits he's not familiar with Jaws and with Windows 7, so I'm seeking
your input and advice first.
