I've never used the FT450, but have and do successfully use the ft-817ND,
and have used the ft70G, and the FT817/earlier model, also have successfully
used the VX150, vx1, vx2, and ft470/I think that last number's right, anyway
it was an older 2M and 70CM HT
.
I'm not sure how accessible the ft450 is, but the IC-718 with the UT102
Voice chip is pretty accessible, although the speech chip will only give you
frequency, mode, and S-meter reading. If you plan to control the rig from
your computer, probably the 450 and the 718 would be pretty comparable using
the ham radio deluxe software, although as I say, I've never used the ft450,
but have heard good things about it, and believe there are folks on the
different blind ham lists who have and use it. There are also a number of
folks on those lists who are against Yaesu completely, and that company has
some _Non accessibility for blind folks issues, but they also make some
radios, IE, EG, the ft817, that noone else has equaled. HTH, Danny Dyer,
