I'm reading a book about brain science - the author is now discussing
'affective afflictions' - non-communicable diseases and afflictions -
someone could be writing about the trauma of labels!

Sylvia

"There are at least five affective afflictions, ways our emotions can
seriously skew our thinking away from rationality: motivated
inference, self-deception, weakness of will, depression, and manic exuberance."

Paul Thagard, The brain and the meaning of life, Princeton, 2010. p 112
