If you haven't got a serial port, I've used this one with good 
success on both Mac and Linux, as well as having it work in Windows.  
Plus, it's hard to argue with the price-$11 and free shipping 
eligibility in the US:

Uses the generic Prolific PL2303 driver on a Mac, which can be found 
at Prolific's website and is Lion-ready.  Linux is probably plug and 
play with it on most modern distributions, and the driver's part of 
your kernel source if it isn't built.  You might look for updated 
drivers online for Windows, but it's got drivers for Windows 98 
through Windows 7 as you'd expect.

And for 1/6 the price of my Keyspan device.  You don't know how many 
times I've kicked myself over that one.
