Recommending really good chili mix:

At Genuardi's supermarket, which I think is now owned by Safeway, I recently bought a box of gf Cook Simple Cowboy Chili (with quinoa and cinnamon) mix. Per the directions, I added diced tomatoes. I don't have gf beer (or any beer) in the house, their other optional addition, so I splashed it with Worchestshire Sauce. Don't know why. Seemed like the thing to do.

I added a small can of black olive slices and a pound of sauteed ground beef (sauteed with one diced large onion). I foolishly added a sprinkle of cayenne red pepper and chili powder to the pot, before tasting it, and ended up thinning it with an 8 oz can of tomato sauce, because, boy was it hot! I like it hot, but this chili is 10 on a scale of 10. TASTE first! The box actually warns you that you can increase or decrease the heat.

Anyway, with all of the gf stuff on the market these days, it's hard to tell when we're wasting our money. I don't like eating anything from a box, if I can avoid it, but this stuff seemed natural enough. And it's healthy...high fiber, low sugar, not high in salt.

I made some wild rice on the side and ended up adding it to the chili. Served with corn taco shells...Husband put the chili on the shells.

With the rice and the mix, it would serve four people...or in our case, dinner tonight and leftovers tomorrow.

I'd buy it again. I haven't tried their other products yet.

The website on the box is www.thehealthypantry.com, and the phone number on the box is 1-877 -9-pantry, if you have questions or need to contact The Health Pantry, which makes the mix.
