In my case, I use the Ethernet as my primary connection, and disabling
the WiFi prevents inadvertent connections to my neighbor and confusion
about which connection is active.
When WiFi is primary, no Ethernet is present, so the problem doesn't
arise.
I have yet to see a laptop without Ethernet, and it sounds like a bad
idea.

Hi, why would you need to disable the wifi? Every laptop has dual
ethernet and wifi except the most modern ones which seem to be doing
away with the ethernet or so I'm led to believe.
