Hi Scott, Upon receiving your email, I sent a quick note to one of the 
moderators of the vinux support
group, as follows. "as of now, What's the best and surest url/source, for 
downloading, For a total newby, wanting to start with the most stable 
workable edition of Vinux for either a Bootable CD or Thumb drive, ?..."
In a short time, he answered me as follows.

""V3.01 is your best bet.
Please make sure you download one of our USB editions as bugs were fixed
in these releases, not the standard CD image. you can use them both on a
pen drive or burn the file called os.iso to a CD/DVD to boot from it. A
direct link to the v3.01 directory for your convenience is:

Sir, But I wanted to get the absolute latest, simplest and best out there 
for someone needing to start with just such a product----I meant no 
aspersions toward anyone's vinux or linux knowledgeability.  Hope this
