A lie detector test has found it takes longer to fib than tell the truth.

The new Tara test found that people telling the truth answer 70 per
cent quicker than those who are lying.

The test's developer, psychologist Aiden Gregg, found that 85 per
cent of interviewees were slower at faking answers than telling the truth.

He believes this is because to lie involves a more complex brain process.

The Tara test asks a series of questions which must be answered as
quickly as possible. It is being considered for use by US police.
