I know nothing about the MAC world, but I think all the Kenwood software
is Windows based: rig control, virtual com port, and firmware update
software. Perhaps there is some windows emulation setting in the mac.
As Kevin said, the USB connection for the 590 needs the virtual com
port software installed to work.
You can do rig control and logging via the serial port on the 590
(either via direct serial connection or via a usb/serial adapter).
Don't know if any of this stuff is on the mac.
Maybe get on the 590 mailing list and see if other Mac users are out there.
