It's the same as all other drives. I suspect you're looking at the
adapter which mates to the fitting in the laptop.
Just pull it straight off and attach it to the new drive.

Thank you very much to all who replied to my question - I have got some
good 
advice - the only problem is I have just discovered that the Dell hard
drive 
is different to other laptop drives and does not seem to fit in my hard 
drive dock!
Oh well, it seemed like a good idea!
