Unfortunately I don't have the citations but game use isn't necessarily a
sign of issues however, it is more of a problem if there are already
morbidities such as shyness, depression, etc.  Many a comedian started at
dungeons and dragons.
The WII is being studied in the geriatric population both for physical and
mental stimulation.  Both Occupational and physical therapists are looking
into this as an aide to rehabilitation.

Hi Heather,

Butting in here. :-)

But "extensive involvement" in anything is probably not good for you,
(eating, 
slimming, alcohol, politics, religion).

It is clear that video games are just one way of improving fine motor
controls 
but there are many others. Regarding MMORG this video always makes me
smile:-
