I assume this is a EIDE or IDE drive. You probably have a corrupted boot
sector or partition table which can be cured with a low level format.
Western Digital has a utility that will low level format the drive and
analyze it for errors. Actually all hard drive manufactures have similar
utilities for their drives. Check WD's web page....I belive the file is
called WD_diag.exe.
