Hi Harriet,

If you haven't gotten this resolved, you could try this.

Before trying though, this will not work if you cannot create or access
another account of any kind. So, if you can even access a guest account, you
can try it. Here goes:

Once on the desktop of another account, right click, choose "New", then
"Shortcut". Browse the "shortcut" prompt to this directory
"C:\Windows\System32\ and scroll down and choose "control.exe", it then
should look like this in the window "C:\Windows\System32\control.exe". While
still there, hit the spacebar to make a space after the "exe" and then add
(no quotes) "userpasswords2", click next and you can name it if you want,
otherwise, finish this out and you will see an password/account setting
applet on your desktop. Open it, now click on your account name and see if
you can press the password reset button at the bottom, if you can, simply
make a new password. If not, email back, and I will give a more detailed
instruction to go further into the app.

If you need further instructions, please let me know if the account you
(may) have tried this from is a "Guest" account or otherwise, as to make the
next attempt easier to explain.

Tom

Subject: [PCBUILD] Lost Password

I have a Dell studio, win 7 home, and somehow my pw won't work... I have
it written down, but no matter how many times I put it in there.. it still
won't work. This is the right pw cause I have the date I reset it which was
the other day. I looked in the Reset PW section of my computer, and it
keeps telling me it's not right and I know it is. I am the ONLY person
using this puter so there is no reason why it wont work. I just read where
I had to reinstall Windows 7 in order to change my password. I need
help...
is there any other way I can change it without reinstallation. Harriet
