Hi All!
I know there was a discussion not to long ago on
SCSI differences, but I didn't follow it closely
because it wasn't something I had to work with.
Now I have a new job, and guess what? A PC with
SCSI needs!
I'm new to SCSI, so if you need more info, please
tell me! I'm trying to get a work station going,
and it happens to be a graphics workstation that
needs access to a CD-R, external scanner &
printer. Now the details:
Gateway 2000 PC P300, 128MB Ram, 6GIG HD(IDE)
HP ScanJet 6100C Scanner (has it's own card, but
no extra plugs)
Internal HP 4020i CD-R with AdvanSys controller
card (no extra plugs on card.)
3COM PCI Network Card
So far everything up to this point is working
without any problems.
Now I need to add a Canon Printer/Scanner/Copier
(actually, they need just the printer part now)
which is plugged into an Adaptec 2940 Ultra
PCI SCSI host adapter, which has a 50 pin plug
on the card, as well as a hard drive plug, which
is being used in the current PC.
The internal HP CD-R drive says it's SCSI 2, can
I plug this into the Adaptec 2940 Ultra without
any problems, outside of configuration headaches?
If not, are there any SCSI cards available that
would support the both? Otherwise, it's a hard
push to get them to purchase another printer (my
suggestion from the beginning!) for this
workstation.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
