Just want to thank all the wonderful people out there who are living
with this illness. What a fantastic support group! In less than 24
hours, I got 20 responses to my question re. my 10 year old daughter who
still has highly elevated ttg after 1 year of a strict GF diet.

Here is a summary of the responses:

Over 7 people said that it took them over 2 years to get a normal ttg,
despite strict adherence to a GF diet. For one person, it took 3 years!!

Many people talked about potential ways which she might be getting cross
contaminated including prescription drugs, gum, quaker oats brand, lip
gloss, liquid soap, maltodextric, snack foods, Amy's brand of foods.
One person highly suggested getting vitamin levels because a low D,
iron, etc. could impact absorption.

One person suggested using cyrex labs to get testing for other foods
which can mimic the effects of gluten. Here were some suggestions for
different tests besides ttg: DgP, total serum Iga and the Ema.

Two people pointed out there are false positives with the ttg. Elevated
ttg could indicate a liver problem or a thyroid problem.

I want to thank everyone who responded. I was not able to respond
personally to all the responses but my heart is just full with all this
support for a stranger on the line.

Joyce
