For what it's worth, my recommendation would be to completely uninstall and then reinstall the program. The fact that it's giving you an error message when you click on the program in your desktop tells me that for some reason, your computer is not recognizing the program.

Hi all,
I'm using windows xp pro, jaws 12, and microsoft security essentials.
Oh what a morning! I usually have the computer do a scan and ya know, all the virus definitions updated.
Well, this morning I check, and it says pc status, at risk!
What in the world do I do?
I try to start it, and I get an error message saying it's not installed, which is a line of bull, since it is installed.
Folks, I gotta have something that's gonna work, and I won't touch AVG, it's not accessible!
So, someone give me a clue, step by step, on what to do here. I got enormous amounts of work I have to do, and I use this machine!
I didn't need this problem to happen today!
So, someone tell me what should I do?
Harry
