I've seen recently some newer Icom commercial handheld radios have voice read out for channels. Exactly what it reads I'm not sure yet, but specifically the IC-F3101D I know has it and that's their entry level IDAS/NXDN radio so others must have it if not will soon since I think that just came out. IDAS is getting somewhat popular in my area so sometime down the road I may pick one up and try it and have more to report but we'll see. For those that don't know, IDAS is Icom's commercial digital replacement for DStar and is working it's way through the ham radio ranks because it's so much cheaper and more flexible than DStar and some say it sounds better, it still sounds digital to me but I can stand it for a couple minutes instead of 1 tenth of a second. Anyway, I thought I'd pass that along in case IDAS is getting used in someone's area and they wanted to try it, if not, that may be appearing in some more of their radios so you may want to take a look at that option.
