    Ah, Steve, that's my problem.

I use the PF key and menu 48 now for tuning at 30 watts output when using my 
Ameritron amp, so I guess I can't have it both ways.

I knew there was a reason why I couldn't do it with my current set-up, and 
you just jogged my memory as to why.

Tom,

Set menu 48 to 62 to let the pf key read s-meter.    If you already have
the pf key set to read frequency, you will lose this, but you can always
get freq by hitting  the "ent" key twice.
