I outsmarted myself.
I have a coax switch, to switch the antenna between different radios. I
decided to use the valiant and the ts480 as an A.M. phone station.
Rather than switch everything around, I kept everything in the same position
with the rf going through the antenna relay.
I discovered this morning, that I had 43 watts output on 12 meters. When I
switched the relay out and switched the antenna output on the 480, I had 77
watts out.
This being fascinating, I switched the connector cables, and again, when the
relay was in line, their was 43 watts out.
I wonder if I used the transmit side of the relay, if this would disapear?
The other discovery of the morning, is that a 6 meter ringo will tune on 10,
and out perform a 40 meter double extended zepp.
Now for football!
