I mentioned before my ICOM IDAS radio with speech for the channel numbers and what not, I now have learned the IDAS mobiles will do it as will the hand helds, and Kenwood's Nextedge, which is compatible with IDAS, also will speak channel numbers and other things, I still don't know about those with a display, which is all but the hand held I have, and if they speak memory names or not but I know they'll at least speak channel numbers and there's a lot of other settings, everything that can be set from the radio has different beeps and what not so we can set that no problem. We just got a new car and my current mobile won't fit so I'm going to have to get something with a detachable face plate, I'll very likely go this route if I don't put my 706 in so may have a report by the end of the year on weather the mobiles speak channel number, or alpha numeric tag.
