I own the MFJ-495 and saved the PDF as a text document. There are unreadable
parts--particularly where function keys are diagrammed--but I also found
that the lists of hot keys are discernable with a little work. Perhaps,
because I am a person who likes braille, I found it easier to pluck out the
useful info and swim around the jibberish with a braille display more easily
than I think I could have done with speech output.

Phil,

I found this via a google search:

www.thiecom.de/pdf/MFJ-495.pdf

In the short time I looked at it, it seemed somewhat readable, but don't
know if the info you really need to have is in some unreadable part of
the document. From within the pdf, I was able to save a copy as text,
but again don't know if this is of any help to you.
