I have 2 of the Heil adapters for Kenwoods, 8 pin round for the TS-2000
and 590, and modular for the 480. They each come with a 1/4 inch jack
for PTT. I have both a foot switch and hand switch paralleled in line
with this jack. Your head set will plug right in to the 3.5 mm (1/8
inch) jack. for the mic.
I also have one from W2ENY and while I don't know all the versions he
may offer, I think most of his are designed for electret mics that need
a voltage applied. In radios where there is voltage supplied from the
mic jack the adapter is wired with a dropping resistor to put the proper
voltage on the proper wire for the mic. The one I have also has the 1/4
jack for PTT.
Which one you need depends on if you need voltage on the mic.
