In Windows 7 (and some other OS's) Windows is making the  USB sound chip 
from the 590 the default sound card.  If you are using JAWS, you should 
go into The JAWS menu and tell it to use the pc onboard sound card 
instead of the "default".

Whether or not you are running JAWS, you should go into Windows sound 
control and change which sound card is selected as default.   I think 
there is also an option in there where you can uncheck the box that says 
something like "always use default sound card".


Once you get it set up correctly, make a note of what you did.   You may 
see it happen again  at some time after some reboot, update, or  for no 
  reason.
