Tom,
Sorry we didn't cross paths this weekend. Had big hopes to beat last
years QSO total and score, but my 656 QSO's were almost 100 below last
year. However I got more mults, so my 650k score was about 70 k higher
than last year. Had a tremendous amount of noise Friday night and most
of Saturday, and it was hard for me to get the ball rolling. As you said,
it was nice to see 10 meters open. Perhaps the best DX for me this
weekend was SV9 and 3V, both on 10 meters Sunday afternoon.
Had my best success on the low end of 75 both evenings. Had a few nice
little mini pile-ups from Europe and even got a call from a 5D in Morocco.
All in all, a fun radio weekend. I also found the old Butternut
vertical did very well on 15 meters, often out performing the rotating
dipole.
As for working the G5 right after me: I had the recording feature
running in the logging software and just went back and listened to that
QSO. I must have stayed on frequency for a moment to get him logged
right, and while I didn't pay attention at the time, on the recording I
hear him acknowledge your call and the 66 s/n you gave him.
