I'd still back off the audio settings and see, some programs I played with 
for digital modes will tell you it's an overload if it's extreme, but it can 
still be a ways to go before it makes sense after you stop getting that 
warning. If that radio has a way to turn down the audio at the data jack, 
I'd try it, very likely the volume on the front of the radio has nothing to 
do with it, it's probably in the menu, I think you'd be surprised.
