The Information Technology (IT) Department of the ACLU's
National Office in New York City is seeking a full-time Business
Objects Developer. This assignment will run 11 to 12 months.
OVERVIEW
The ACLU is seeking a Business Objects Developer to assist in the
development and maintenance of medium to high complexity Business
Objects Web Intelligence reports. Reporting to the Associate
Director of Enterprise Database Systems, the Developer works
closely with the Reporting & Data Analyst to serve the
Development staff of the National Office with advanced
fundraising analysis and reporting. The Developer delivers
high-quality customer service to the internal customers of the
Enterprise Database Team and will be involved in developing
report specifications and creating appropriate testing plans and
end-user documentation as needed. The Developer will also be
called upon to assist with ad hoc SQL queries and ongoing data
hygiene and standardization projects in preparation for an
upcoming CRM conversion.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop new Business Objects WebI (Web Intelligence) reports
against existing universes.
Maintain, support and adjust existing Business Objects reports.
Conduct quality assurance testing for new and updated Business
Objects reports.
Work closely with Reporting & Data Analyst and end users to
obtain requirements and deliver results on schedule.
Assist with ongoing report standardization efforts.
Begin serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for underlying
data structure and current business standards.
Recognize and troubleshoot data quality issues and root causes of
said issues.
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and technician for SAP
Business Objects universes, ETLs, and data marts, in cooperation
with ACLU's donor database vendor.
Contribute to the design, creation, and implementation of Best
Practices and training material team and broader nationwide
organization.
Create ad hoc SQL queries for end users as needed.
Create standard SQL queries to identify and address recurring
hygiene issues.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Three to five years of experience working with BI development
tools (IDT/UDT, WebI, Dashboards, Crystal Reports).
Three to five years of technical experience utilizing SAP BW.
5 years hands-on reporting design and development experience with
BI/Analytics, ETL and database programming tools such as SAP.
SAP Business Objects, BW, BPC and HANA certification preferred.
Comprehensive understanding of relational database and relational
universe design.
Strong ability to communicate technical information (written and
verbal).
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Passion and appreciation for the larger mission and ideals of the
ACLU.
