Hi Diane,
Not sure exactly which 1.3 Beta version of Audacity you have. It's
1.3.something. I recently updated my Audacity to the latest Beta version,
1.3.13, and was able to successfully import a .wma file. So it's possible
that this feature was not supported in the version of Audacity that you have
but is supported in the latest version. So you could try updating it and
see if the error message goes away.
