Tom,

One final thought.  Don't know if you have the radio in the shack yet, 
or if you are aware of this already, but the mic and din's are different 
between the 480 and 590.   The 590 uses the round 8 pin mic and not the 
modular jack found on the 480.    Also the 480 has a mini din for the 
amp keying and you will need a different cable for the 590.

Luckily for me, Steve  WA1RTB had tipped me off that the  590 and 2000 
use the same cables, so no problem here in switching mic, amp, and data 
cables  from  the 2000 to the 590.
