Job Description:



Please note, this is a one year temporary position, with the 
possibility of an extension.  This position serves as an 
Accessibility Coordinator for the Department of Employment and 
Economic Development (DEED).

Duties include:
1) Create, implement and champion a comprehensive accessibility 
work and communication plan that facilitates the development of a 
sustainable accessibility infrastructure and program for DEED.
2) Develop, coordinate and deliver an accessibility training 
curriculum for management and staff to facilitate the effective 
learning of accessibility standards and practices within the 
department.
3) Identify, draft and help implement department policies, 
procedures and guidelines needed to meet federal and state 
accessibility standards.
4) Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance 
technical and training expertise and integrate new knowledge into 
DEED's practices.

Minimum Qualifications:



Three (3) years professional experience in communications, 
marketing, public relations, training, making presentations to 
diverse groups,
web site management and or related experience.  A Bachelor's 
Degree in Media Arts and Communications, Information-Technology, 
Web-design, Project Management, Training and Development, Human 
Resources would substitute for 1 year related experience.

Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to 
communicate clearly in writing and orally; ability to present 
complex information to users in a comprehensive style; ability to 
present both technical and system information for non-technical 
customers.

Experience with various Suite of Microsoft Office products (Word, 
Excel PowerPoint).




Preferred Qualifications:



A Bachelor's Degree or coursework in Media Arts and 
Communications, Information-Technology, Web-design, Project 
management, Training and Development, Information Design, 
Interactive Design, Human Resources.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules and 
regulations (especially Sections 504 and 508 of the Federal 
Rehabilitation Act, the State VR Rule, and Americans with 
Disabilities Act).

Knowledge of assistive technology tools, such as voice 
recognition systems and screen readers.

Knowledge of current trends in accessibility standards and 
software/hardware solutions.

Critical thinking and problem solving.
Demonstrated Presentation skills.
Excellent Customer Service.
