Hi all,

How do you move a segment from one sound file to another in Audacity?

I was editing a couple of files. At one point I decided to cut a 
selection from one file and paste it into another. I had no trouble 
selecting the segment and copying it to the clipboard. The trouble 
started when I tried to paste it. What I did was open the second file, 
play it till I got to the right place, press P followed by left bracket 
to pause and set the insertion point, press spacebar to stop, and press 
ctrl+v to paste. Instead of finding my segment between two other 
segments, it was at the beginning of the file, and it was added over the 
existing file, as if it had been a musical track.

What do I need to do differently to insert the segment?
