Flor,

Thanks for the tip on selecting an entire page. I've always wondered how to
do that.

The easiest way to select sentences and paragraphs in word is to repeatedly
hit the f8. The pointer can be anywhere in the word, sentence, paragraph, or
document.

In Word 2003 and earlier, hitting F8 once turns on Extended Select. Hitting
it twice selects the word with focus. Hitting it three times selects the
sentence. Hitting it four times selects the paragraph. Hitting it a fifth
time selects the paragraph plus the blank line after it. Hitting it a sixth
time selects the document.

In Word 2007, hitting F8 four times selects the paragraph and any blank
lines that follow, so hitting F8 a fifth time selects the entire document.

There are two things to keep in mind. One is that sentence boundaries are
marked by end punctuation; hence, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy
dogs." is one sentence, and "Mr. Green grabbed a gorilla in the garden." is
two sentences, "Mr." being one sentence and the rest being another.

The other thing to remember is that you don't have to hit F8 six times if
you don't have all five elements to cycle through. For example, if your
paragraph is only one sentence long and if you don't have blank lines
between paragraphs, then hitting F8 once turns on extended selection;
hitting it twice selects the word; hitting it three times selects the
paragraph; and hitting it four times selects the document.

I use this keystroke all the time and find that it works very well. Jaws
sometimes reads all or part of the selection before announcing, "word,"
"sentence," etc., so I generally tap the control key to stop speech, then
hit the Jaws command to read selected text.

Hope this helps.

ciao

For selecting a 'real' page or more pages, ... F8, then Ctrl-g and then
input your desired page number, and ok it; then press ctrl+page-down once
or the number of times needed to select the number of pages you want.
