Richard:
nearly all the newer rigs interface with computers. The trick will be what software to use.
The kenwood ts590 and ts2000 both interface well. The provided software from kenwood works well.
Most other rigs have either their own software, or can use general software such as ham radio deluxe.
That should get you started.
