I don't think blind hams have started an HRD support list so far.  We use
what we can of it and get by.  I use it part of the time with Window-Eyes
7.5.  A few others on this listserv are using it, also.

I have not had success in reading SWR and such from the FT-950's meter
through HRD.  I think you will need one of the talking or CW wattmeters for
that function.  HRD has a "voice synthesizer" mode which uses SAPI 5
text-to-speech to read frequency, mode and S-meter.  It's a little
bothersome, because if you even change your frequency by 20 Hz it will
announce the new frequency.  

HRD has support forums, and that's where I would go to ask some kinds of
questions, particularly regarding IC7000 support.  I assume you have already
done some experimenting with the "demo-matic" mode to get some idea what the
displays look like.  I think it would be useful to get your son or another
ham into the shack as you are getting started, in order to figure out what's
possible with HRD.
