Hi, all.
I don't want to drive everyone nuts with additional details regarding my
antenna installations, but I thought that some of you might be interested in
my latest 160 meter experience. Tonight, using my Carolina Windom Compact
160 with the extra 100 feet of coax feedline at the transmitter, I checked
into a midwest 160-meter SSB net, and got the following signal reports:
S9 +10 into West Olivde, Michigan, about 75 miles southwest of me; a solid
S9 near Madison, WI; and S9 + 20 in Ada, Wisconsin, northwest of Milwaukee.
All contacts were made using only 100 watts, since I haven't gotten brave
enough to try my amplifier yet on 160 meters (grin).
Anyway, I am encouraged greatly here. The antenna is not perfect, to be
sure, but it does seem now to work on the majority of bands and frequencies
that I prefer.
See everyone on the Cross-country Blind Ops Net tomorrow!
