Hi Darren,

Congratulations on getting your tech ticket.

Regarding magmounts, they can be moved from car to car with no problems.
Naturally the magnets are powerful enough to stick on the autos roof and
withstand the wind loading when traveling at speeds. As far as using them
in other locations, homes, hotel rooms and the like, it is advisable to
place them on a metal surface such as a file cabinet. The theory behind
this is to provide a ground that is present when it is on a cars roof. A
magmount is only a half of an affective antenna arrangement. The other half
is the roof of a car or other metal surface. Using this method allows for
the most efficient performance of the antenna system and a good minimal swr.
