I agree that synthesized speech is no substitute for a human reader. 
However, if I have the chance to read a book when it's still popular instead 
of months or years later and nobody has made an audiobook of it, then I'll 
take the Etext with all its limitations. At least it's something. I remember 
being able to get a head start on the last few Harry Potter books, 
downloading them some hours before they were available here on the West 
Coast. Given the choice, I will never say human or nothing.
