Which sea salt do you use? I use Celtic and it is a poor source of iodine.
Regarding the "disappearing iodine test" to test iodine insufficiency, many
factors can impact the dissapearance of the iodine including humidity. I
do believe topical iodine can sink into the skin and create local
anti-inflammation. I've used this for breast soreness, bursitis and other issues.
