Tnx Steve.  Before I got the word from Ed k8uc, I had put in the 
smallest value fuse of  the proper length, which was 2 1/2 amp. I 
breathed a sigh of relief when it came to life.  Of course I didn't have 
a 8 amp handy, so I swiped one from the back-up amp and will get some 
next week.
