Harvey,

With Windows XP, go to your control panel and open add or remove programs.
Scroll down to windows internet explorer 8 and remove it. Windows will give
you lots of warnings about why you should not do that, but proceed anyway.
After IE8 is removed, you will be prompted to reboot and you will be running
IE7. Now, if you go to windows update, you will be immediately prompted to
download IE8 again, which I did. My XP computer still is cooking with no
crashes as of yet.

Net Bat, I regularly clean out my cookies and cache. They bug me!

We could certainly slow the aging process down if it had to work its way
through Congress!

Yes, but how did you find the original versions of both of these programs to
reinstall them? I have the feeling that Internet Explorer may be doing
funny things to my computer as well.
