Quads don't have to be nearly as high as yagis but their wind loading would
be a problem up here in Western Maryland. My yagi has survived the winds we
get at 2100 feet. The wind surface area is 6 feet on my 3 element tribander
versus 10 feet or more for a quad. You really need a tower for an hf quad
because of the length of the driven element on 20 meters. You need to get
the quad up at least 40 feet so maximize the takeoff angle for working dx.
